Public health is a broad field which aims to improve and protect the health and well-being of the general population. As a public health practitioner, you can make a real difference to the lives of local, national and international communities.
Public health practitioners help individuals and communities to have greater control over their health and well-being, and to influence organisational and political environments in ways that lead to better health for all. They work across the lifespan, including the early years, child and adolescent health, and healthy aging to support population health.
We realise that public health is such a broad area, which is why this diploma offers a variety of elective units to allow you to specialise in an area of interest. The course can also be used as a pathway into the Master of Public Health, helping you to further develop your public health knowledge.
- Pathway to further study
The graduate diploma provides a pathway to the Master of Public Health. If you pursue the master’s program, you can add an extension to gain research experience through additional research methodology courses and/or an advanced research project. You can also combine your master’s degree with health leadership and management, global health or infectious diseases intelligence. Studying two programs concurrently enhances your career prospects and gives you the opportunity to combine knowledge and skills from two related disciplines.
- Industry relevant program
This program was designed to be relevant to the workplace, with many opportunities to apply theoretical knowledge to practice. One such opportunity is our internship program, where you’ll gain practical experience in relevant health organizations. We offer a range of domestic and internship placement in Somalia.
