Our History & Background
Global University was established in January 2014 as a direct response to the significant impact of the collapse of the Somali state and subsequent civil wars on the education system. For decades, conflict had devastated educational infrastructure and disrupted learning for generations of Somalis.
The founders of the university, including prominent intellectuals and diaspora individuals, recognized the crucial role education plays in rebuilding society, fostering peace, and promoting prosperity and justice.
From humble beginnings, the university has grown to become a beacon of hope and knowledge in Somalia. Today, we offer a wide range of academic programs across multiple faculties, serving thousands of students who are eager to rebuild their nation through education.
Our journey continues as we expand our facilities, enhance our academic offerings, and strengthen our community partnerships to better serve Somalia's educational needs.
